Jews in Hidng
Jewish people were once a disgrace to Germans, and hiding from the malevolent Nazis was what some of the Jews had to do. Survival was difficult without it, but going into hiding meant lots of hardship for yourself, and for whoever was willing to help the jews. Many other different ways were also used to hide their Jewish identity; people pretended to be Christian, they had false identity papers made, and Nazis even checked the men’s genital areas to see if they were circumcised (most jews were circumcised at birth and some men dressed as women to hide it). Getting caught in hiding, or hiding people meant trouble for most. Nazis were on the hunt for jews in hiding, and neighbors would rat out people who are hiding jews to the Nazis for money. When World War ll ended in 1945, 6 million jews were being killed, and a portion of them took big risks and went in hiding.
